Picking up the pencil and start drawing again, is something I haven't done since art class in 1998, specially when it comes to portrait drawings. Now I have decided to work on improving my drawing skills. In order to draw better portraits I brake it down into different part of the face. Today I focus on the nose and learned a bit about its anatomy.
Using a photo of my son Isak, and some guidelines drawn in the start, makes it way easier to create a drawing with more accurate proportions.
See how I sketch some city block, using 3 vanishing points.
Notice how I start by using a straight horizontal line where I place the two fist vanishing point, this line represents the height of "my eyes." Bellow this line I later on draw a curved line representing the horizon, this helps create the illusion of being high up from the ground.
I was actually planning on creating a 3 point perspective drawing, but it seams like I just wasn't quite finished playing around with the 2 point drawings yet. So I had to make this hole in the ground first.
I guess I will move on to the 3 point perspective tomorrow then. And that's when we get to see the world trough the ayes of superman or a frog.
This downtown sketch of an imaginary city is an example on how to draw using 2 point perspective. I start by drawing a horizontal line, where I then put two point. These two point are the vanishing points I use to create the illusion of perspective and depth in my drawing.
